Sweet dreams

I just so happened to be playing with the camera on the iPad when I saw a glimpse of extra sweetness.

And my heart melts.

5 1/2 weeks

Well, I didn't quite get a post up on Sunday (which I'll explain why later),
so here are a few pictures mid-week for all of Benjamin's adoring fans. ;)

I caught him while he was contented yesterday.

He decided he was hungry after a while,
thus the thumb/hand sucking.

After a snack, he bedded down for a little while.

Unfortunately that nap didn't last long at all.
It's a good thing he's precious.

Sunday was busy for us with a trip to Wal-Mart, and then some time spent with family during the afternoon.
We were celebrating Jud's birthday.  Benjamin enjoyed his Moby wrap while in the store.  He slept the entire time.

Monday morning started rough with me waking up with a 101+ fever.  Benjamin had his 1-month pediatrician visit -- He now weights 10 lbs 8 oz!  Then we had lunch with PopPop & Daddy.  After that it was off to my lactation consultant.  After having a fever, flu-like symptoms, and a tender breast one day the week before, and then again on Monday, I decided to get checked out.  I also had the opportunity to get some handy breastfeeding tips.  I'm now on antibiotics to help treat what is most likely bacteria in my duct.  I have my 6 week appointment on Friday so I'll be reevaluated by the doctor then.  I felt entirely yucky on Monday evening, and Benjamin was restless, so it was a rough evening.  Only having 4 hours of sleep the night before didn't help.

Children's Tylenol on Monday night helped with Benjamin's restlessness which I assumed was from his Hep B vaccination at the doctor.  We slept well that night, which was good because Benjamin was very needy on Tuesday.  Poor baby must not have felt well.

I'm glad to say that today has gone better than the two days before.  This evening I'm trying to get some housework done.  Between the both of us not feeling well we've just been trying to manage basic everyday functioning.

Lastly, I thought I would share a few pictures of the marigolds in our garden that have finally started blooming.  I planted seeds several months back.  They look great. ;)

I hope you all are having a great week.

Sunday Stills, Cats

I followed a link from my  mother's blog and looked at some photo blogs, one by a mother and the other by her daughter.  I followed a link from one of those blogs to Sunday Stills.  It's a simple concept where someone puts a challenge out each week for photographers of any level and any photography equipment to rise to.

This week absolutely amused me because it is one of my favorite photography subjects, after Benjamin that is, CATS!

So, in less than 10 minutes today I decided I would give it a shot.  No pun intended.  Okay, maybe I intended it a little.  ;)

The lovely Miss Athena, for your viewing pleasure.  I have to give the 8-year-old cat a shout out.  She has adjusted so very well to having a newborn in the house.  She curiously sniffs him every once in a while, but most of the time she gives him distance.  I remember one of the first nights he was home she was on the bed with us.  She walked near me not realizing he was there, and then when she noticed him she gave him a sniff, and then she backed up ever so carefully, even though her shortest route would have been to walk over him. I was proud of her.  I had to laugh at her the other day though when she leaned in to look at him and he sneezed.  It startled her a bit.  Bless her.

Oh Athena, you're so majestic.

Pending we get plenty of rest tonight, pictures of Benjamin tomorrow. :)
