Monday

As seen in this picture posted a few days before, Benjamin played outside again on the Monday of Spring Break.  He's sporting a shirt from one of our $5 grab bags at the thrift store that Saturday.

As he was playing and I was nearby I heard Benjamin talking to someone.  I came around the side of the house to find Athena resting in her sunbeam.

We took a trip down the driveway to get the mail.

That day also brought about this finish of my project...

Benjamin's Easter Basket!

It turned out great.  I'm going to post a little more about it and the tutorial I followed on my other blog (at some other time).

I also used another tutorial to make Benjamin a Mickey hooded towel.

He wouldn't pose.

I had to model.

Mickey helped me too.

Benjamin was tired and ready for bed.

I have decided that I need to go back and tweak the ears some to make them less "Shrek-ish"  I may fix the box pleat in the back to make the hood not as pointy too.  Time will only tell.

That's all for now!  I hope everyone is having a great week.

Sunday, March 22nd

Sunday brought along a restful day.  We opted to stay home from church because he still had a croupy cough.  He had bursts of energy.

He enjoys his hats, and I am encouraging it outside to limit sun exposure.

There was a lot of this...

And this...
(Thanks for the shirt, Nana!)

That toy is an outside only toy due to the sheer amount of popping noise it makes.

Then, We spotted Papaw's cows...

Maybe I don't want to smile...I don't care if you do think the lighting is great.

Fine.

Athena joined the party.

"Kitty!"

Photo ops to send Daddy who was still traveling to New York at the time.

After the cows moved along we went back to the porch to swing a few minutes.

And, of course, there was work on this.  Whatever could it be?

The send off

We sent Josh off on Friday (the 21st).  Benjamin took the opportunity to sit in what would be his Daddy's seat for part of the trip.  He was in good spirits (since he was oblivious to the knowledge of Josh being gone for a week).  I was my usual blubbering self.  I cry whether Josh leaves for one night or eight.

After we were done seeing Josh off, we went to Subway with my parents, I shopped for a few things at Wal-Mart, and then we headed home.

That evening had a lot of this...

Benjamin had that awful cold that he was still getting over, and he was content to let me hold him a lot.  I made sure to send Josh pictures of his son watching Doctor Who with me.

There were certain jealous parties to the cuddling...

Miss Athena is always so good with Benjamin, but she doesn't stay around for long for his less than gentle petting.

Saturday brought a visit from my sister.  We went our to eat at a local restaurant, The Copper Kettle, and then we shopped at three different thrift stores.  We had a great "haul" of items bought at great bargains.  We came back to the house and watched Frozen before she went home.  Neither of us had seen it.  Benjamin seemed to enjoy it as well.

Before I went to bed I started this project...

More to come. :)

Spring Break is over?

Alas, a lovely week at home with my child has come to an end.  Fortunately that also brought the return of my husband who was on a Mission Trip to New York all week.  Pictures of our fun week coming soon!

 I hope.  ;)

When the little one is sick...

Our poor baby boy (now 20 months old) is suffering from a cold this week.  Many people in our family have had it.  I am pretty sure it has gone around our entire town (as well as that nasty stomach virus).  Benjamin has had spurts of energy mixed with longer spurts of rest.  This was Sunday when we basically came in to town with him long enough to realize that his cough from the day before was worse, and he didn't need to be around anyone.  He took a nap during the 2nd service, thus I sat in the teen building with him while he slept on the sofa.  Anyone else notice how he's starting to look less and less like a baby? Sigh.

This was post-nap, post-trip home.  Some Bubble Guppies or Micky Mouse Clubhouse...Aka Bubble or Mooka ("Think, Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse!") with some snackies/lunch perked him up for a while.

There have plenty of cuddles and a little more tv than usual this week.  Also, as seen in the picture below he gets amused with putting things on his head and saying, "Hat!"  My fault, I must admit, from playing that game with him a few times. I was amused that it looked like a yarmulke.

That's all for now.  Pray that the sickness will leave us.  It hit my mom pretty hard to, so we are looking forward to some rest and playing catch up on things during Spring Break next week. ;)
