Josh arranged for our trip to Williamsburg to start on Friday afternoon. He took off a few hours early, and our plans were to travel to a hotel in Winston Salem, NC to stay for the night and finish the last leg of the journey on Saturday.
It started with a car wash in McCaysville. Exciting, I know.
We saw some lovely foliage and views on the way.
Benjamin took a late nap for part of the trip.
He watched the iPad which was mounted on the back of Josh's seat for a while. He also FaceTimed with PopPop and Grammy.
This was our room.
I was impressed by the Paul Mitchell toiletries.
We awoke the next morning and had a continental breakfast.
Benjamin helped us with the luggage...kind of.
He had another opportunity to FaceTime with PopPop and Grammy. Which he (and they) loved.
He played Peek-a-Boo with PopPop.
We saw thousands of day lillies on the way.
Benjamin took another nap.
Finally, we made it to the visitor's center!
We went ahead and got our tickets (which Josh had already paid for and reserved), grabbed a quick snack at their cafe (including some $12 refillable cups).
We went to check in at Wyndam Patriot's Place. It took a few minutes since we were there before check-in time. I appreciated their donation box in the lobby.
This was our room.
Benjamin enjoyed a short few minutes to run around before we had to turn around and head to dinner reservations. But, I'll leave that for another post.
